Literary Translation
Literary translation is almost an art form in itself requiring the translator to be able to translate not only the words but also ensuring those words reflect the emotions and cultural differences between the target and source languages.
This service represents a broad selection of literary translation requirements including books (fiction and non- fiction), articles (non-technical), poetry, advertising and any text that requires creative flexibility and license to convey the same emotion in the target language.
We readily acknowledge that some translations are impossible to convey the meaning from one language to another. For example, puns, rhyming words, anagrams etc. are extremely difficult to successfully translate imaginatively. Imagine trying to translate Cockney rhyming slang into Spanish; 'Frog and Toad' is Road translates as 'Rana y Sapo' es Calle. The nuance is therefore completely lost and can only be appreciated in the English language.
To achieve the best results for literary translation, it is crucial that our translators work closely with litterateurs to fully understand the style, subtleties and emotion contained in the text to ensure that this is properly reflected in the translation.
